Where God Does His Best Work

Where God Does His Best Work

We often think spiritual growth looks like fireworks — big revelations, big emotions, big changes. But most of the time, God works like a gardener, not a firework maker. Quietly. Patiently. Intentionally.

This week reminded me that:

  • The small “yes” matters.

  • The quiet obedience matters.

  • The decision to pray instead of panic matters.

  • The moment you chose peace instead of pressure matters.

  • The choice to keep becoming instead of performing matters.

These are the moments that shape us. These are the moments that build spiritual muscle. These are the moments that Heaven sees even when no one else does.

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” Zechariah 4:10

God rejoices over the beginning. He rejoices over the middle. He rejoices over the quiet work that no one claps for.

When the Week Feels Quiet

If your week felt slow, still, or uneventful, don’t misread it. Quiet does not mean empty. Quiet often means God is building something that needs stillness to take shape.

Sometimes the quiet weeks are the most important ones because:

  • God is strengthening something inside you.

  • God is healing something you didn’t realise needed healing.

  • God is preparing you for something you’re not ready to carry yet.

  • God is aligning things you can’t see but will soon walk into.

The quiet is not a delay. The quiet is not a punishment. The quiet is not a sign that nothing is happening.

The quiet is formation.

Becoming Happens in the Background

One thing God keeps teaching me is this: Becoming is rarely loud. It’s the slow, steady shaping of the heart. It’s the unseen transformation that eventually becomes visible.

You don’t notice a seed growing until it breaks the soil — but the real work happened underground.

This week, maybe God was working underground in you.

Maybe He was strengthening your roots. Maybe He was deepening your trust. Maybe He was stretching your capacity. Maybe He was preparing you for a season that requires more from you than before.

Whatever He was doing, you can trust this: God never wastes a week.

Keep Becoming

So as we step into a new week, I want to encourage you:

Keep becoming. Keep leaning in. Keep trusting the slow work of God. Keep honouring the small beginnings. Keep believing that God is shaping something beautiful in you — even when the process feels quiet.

We’re growing — even here, even now.

With you on the journey,

Philip
